Football: New Devizes Town joint-manager Shaun Moffat is pleased after his side were handed a home league opener against Ilfracombe Town on Saturday August 9.

They travel to Frome Town on Wednesday August 13 before hosting local rivals Calne Town in the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round on Saturday AUgust 16.

Devizes then host Bristol Manor Farm in the Toolstation League Premier Division on Tuesday August 19.

Moffat said: "It's nice to start at home, you never want to get a long distance away game for the first match.

"I'm excited because the squad is coming together nicely now.

"We've lost only two players from last season, with Darren Robison moving to a team closer to his home and Ryan Trowbridge going to Melksham.

"But we've replaced them and the squad is already as strong as it was last season.

"We've got two or three exciting under 18 youngsters coming through too who I think will make the first team before Christmas.

"We've trained twice this week and we had 48 players at training on Tuesday - the attitude of every one was excellent.

"A few lads from Devizes who I didn't know asked to come for a trial and some were good players.

"We should have about seven new players on board by the time the season starts."
