New boy Williams impressed by Bluebirds' ambition

Chippenham Town boss Adie Mings has bolstered his squad ahead of the new season with the capture of Yate Town midfielder Ashley Williams.

The athletic utility player, 22, can play at full back and centre midfield and was tempted by a move to Hardenhuish Park because the club's ambition.

Williams, who joined in with the club's first pre-season training session last night, said: "Chippenham have always been known as a professionally run club.

"Things are done properly here and they have players who want to play at a higher level.

"Yate is a good club but they're content to stay in the Southern League Premier Division, Chippenham really want to kick on."

Williams fills the void left by Mark Badman, who has left to join Conference South side Bath City.

Winger Aaron Cornwall did not attend training and now looks set to complete his move to rivals Halesowen Town.
